I don’t know about you, but January has felt like a never-ending rollercoaster ride I definitely didn’t sign up for. Ever since January 20th, every day has been filled with an unrelenting storm of chaos: endless headlines about the new Trump administration, billionaire-backed policies, congressional hearings, executive orders, slander, boycotts, job losses, deportations the list goes on. It’s enough to make anyone’s head spin.

Honestly, I’d love to say that I’m unbothered by it all, but that would be a lie. My anxiety has been through the roof. Sleep has been hard to come by. My energy is low, and let’s just say… I’ve definitely felt the emotional toll of this time. This year started off in a way I never expected, and I never imagined it would hit me the way it has.

I know I’m not alone in feeling overwhelmed, and I want to be real with you about how I’m coping. Each day, I have to be intentional about how I move through the world, how I manage what I’m consuming, and how I protect my peace. So if you’re feeling anything like I am stressed, exhausted, maybe even hopeless at times here are 10 tips that have helped me find moments of calm in this storm. Maybe they’ll help you, too.

1. Prayer: A Constant Conversation with God
I’ve always talked to God, but right now, it’s more than ever. Whether I’m feeling overwhelmed or trying to find peace, prayer is where I go. Every time I pray, it’s like I release a little bit of the weight on my shoulders, and I can breathe again. The comfort I feel is hard to explain.

2. A Great Support System
It’s essential to have people who can just listen, make you laugh, or distract you for a while. My friends and family have been a lifeline. Sometimes just chatting, venting, or doing something fun together is exactly what I need to reset.

3. Therapy (Or Anything That Helps You Ground Yourself)
I’ve had a rough time scheduling therapy sessions this month due to scheduling conflicts, but I’ve still been using the tools my therapist taught me like meditation, journaling, and breathing exercises. They don’t solve everything, but they help me manage my stress in the moment and feel more centered.

4. Self-Care (Make Time for It)
When everything feels chaotic, you have to take care of yourself. For me, that means scheduling massages, facials, getting my nails done, shopping, or even sweating it out in the sauna. These little acts of self-care help me feel grounded and remind me that I deserve to feel good, even when everything else feels crazy.

5. Fitness Challenges with Friends/Family
Getting back into a fitness routine after a break can feel impossible, but I’ve been joining fitness challenges with my friends and family. We’ve done everything from jumping rope to holding weighted standing crunches. It’s fun, it keeps me motivated, and the accountability makes it a lot easier to stick with.

6. Supplements for Stress and Sleep
I’ve been big on supplements, and they’ve definitely helped. Magnesium and melatonin help me sleep, while ashwagandha helps with anxiety. I also take B-12 for energy. Please consult your doctor before adding anything to your routine, but these three have really made a difference for me during this stressful time.

7. Step Outside
If you’re working from home, like I am part of my week, getting outside even just for a quick walk or coffee run makes a huge difference. Fresh air, even for just a few minutes, gives me a mental break and helps reset my mood.

8. Take a Break from Social Media
I love staying up to date with what’s happening, but sometimes, it’s just too much. If social media is making me more stressed than informed, I give myself permission to log off. Trust me, the world will still be there when you come back. Step away for a while and let your mind breathe.

9. Gratitude Journaling
Starting my day with gratitude has been a game-changer. Every morning, I write down three things I’m grateful for whether it’s the warmth of my bed, a good cup of coffee, or the fact that I made it through yesterday. Focusing on gratitude shifts my mindset and helps me stay grounded in the midst of the chaos.

10. JUST BREATHE!!!
It might sound cliché, but taking a few deep breaths when I’m feeling overwhelmed is one of the most effective ways to find a little peace. It sounds so simple, but it works. Just stopping, breathing deeply, and being present in the moment helps calm my racing thoughts and resets my mind.

This time is hard. No one should be expected to just power through it without acknowledging the weight of everything that’s happening. But I do believe that we can protect our peace even in moments of uncertainty. I’m not perfect at this every day, but these tips have helped me manage my stress and keep my sanity intact.

I’d love to hear from you what’s been helping you cope during this crazy time? Are any of these tips something you’d like to try? Drop a comment below and let’s share what’s been working for us.
