I’ve incorporated dry brushing into my daily routine, and while it’s definitely not the most relaxing activity out there, I’ve found it to be surprisingly rewarding. Let me share a bit about this ancient beauty technique and why I think it’s worth a try.

Dry brushing isn’t just a modern fad—it’s been around for ages! From the Ancient Egyptians to Cleopatra herself, many cultures have sworn by its benefits. The process involves using a natural bristle brush to brush your skin in a circular motion, starting from your feet and working your way up toward your chest. The key is to always brush towards your heart. This direction encourages proper lymphatic drainage and boosts blood circulation. We’ll dive deeper into lymphatic massages and their perks in another post, but for now, just know that dry brushing plays a role in supporting this natural process.

Potential Benefits of Dry Brushing:

Typically, you’ll want to dry brush before hopping in the shower. Some people prefer to use oil during the process—I do! Personally, I find that adding a bit of oil makes the brushing more comfortable. If you’re using dry brushing mainly for exfoliation, you might skip the oil and shower immediately afterward to rinse away dead skin cells. Don’t forget to moisturize right after to keep your skin hydrated.

If you haven’t tried dry brushing yet, I definitely recommend giving it a shot. I’d love to hear your thoughts if you do! Have you tried it before? How do you feel about this technique? Let’s chat in the comments!
