As a proud “girls’ girl,” I absolutely love a good girls’ trip! I’m usually quite particular about my travel companions because, let’s be honest, not everyone travels well. However, this particular trip was for a bachelorette celebration for one of my friends, which meant meeting some ladies I didn’t know. While most might hesitate at the thought of traveling with strangers, I’m generally open to new connections. I believe I can vibe with just about anyone, and I was excited to meet intelligent, amazing women who look like me.

Our destination? Palm Springs, where we stayed at the Spirit of Sofia—a charming boutique hotel that you have to rent out entirely in the heart of the desert. We were there during a California heat wave, so it was hot, hot, hot! With 18 fabulous women in attendance (yes, you read that right), I genuinely enjoyed every moment spent with them. The energy was fantastic, and everyone meshed beautifully. It was incredibly refreshing to see a group of beautiful Black women embracing their authentic selves, relaxing, laughing, and having fun together.

Our time was filled with delicious meals prepared by private chef Chong Kim Ooi, we found him on Take a Chef and daily themed events—80s day, All Black, Barbie day, and even a DC Housewives Reunion. Everyone fully embraced the themes, which added to the fun! We dined out, partied, lounged by the pool, enjoyed a sound bath, and took an aerial tram ride to the mountaintop where we savored drinks, ate and snapped countless photos.

I had such an amazing time on this girls’ trip, and I want you to have the same experience! Here are ten tips for a successful girls’ getaway:

  1. Plan Ahead: While spontaneity can be fun, coordinating a large group requires some planning. Designate someone to manage logistics, costs, and events so everyone is on the same page.
  2. Be Open-Minded: Embrace the adventure! Be willing to try new things and meet new people—after all, you’re there to have fun.
  3. Embrace Themes: Themes add an extra touch of excitement to your trip and help everyone narrow down their packing options.
  4. Stay Flexible: Plans can change, and that’s okay! Be prepared to adapt and go with the flow.
  5. Take Breaks: Group trips can be overwhelming. It’s perfectly fine to step away for a moment to regroup before jumping back into the fun.
  6. Be Present: Leave your worries behind and soak up every moment. Celebrate, unwind, and recharge—real life will be waiting for you when you get back.
  7. Budget for Extras: Let’s be real—once you step on that plane, budgets can fly out the window! Bring some extra cash just in case.
  8. Keep It Respectful: Avoid gossiping about your travel companions. If issues arise, address them directly and maturely—everyone is there to have a good time, not to argue.
  9. Pack Versatile Options: While you don’t need to bring your entire closet, having a variety of outfits will prepare you for whatever the day brings.
  10. Don’t Forget Meds: Make sure to pack any necessary medications. The last thing you want is to not feel good on your trip!

I’d love to hear your travel tips too and what your girl’s trip experience was like ! Share them in the comments below!
